You may not know that not only are there 150 psalms in our Bibles, but they have a variety of different functions. And while browsing through the psalms and reading and praying can always be a meaningful moment with God, those moments can be enhanced when we find those psalms that resonate with our particular situation.
I discussed these psalms for several months on my “Steve the Pastor” video feed from Facebook. These brief messages are based on Walter Brueggemann’s wonderful little book The Message of the Psalms: A Theological Commentary. Brueggemann identifiies over 20 different types of psalms divided into psalms of orientation, disorientation and reorientation.
